HUGH GIBSON PAPERS
This collection of Hugh Gibson materials was assembled in 1956 by Perrin C.
Galpin for Mr. Hoovers use in writing An American Epic, Vol. IV. The materials
consist of typescript carbon copies of extracts from Gibson's letters to his mother
1910-30; Gibson's diaries and notes concerning the trip he made with Mr. Hoover
around the world to survey famine conditions during 1946 and 1947; and memoranda
by Galpin and Hoover commenting on the Gibson materials. These are grouped in two
series: Correspondence Extracts, 1910-30 (1 box) and Diaries and Notes., 1946-47 (1/2 box).
